I decided to share & document my journey building my Tiny House in the Byron Hinterland. It's been a process that I've loved and hopefully I've inspired others to think about alternative ways of living.
To me, The Farm, has always been about the learning journey & realising a long held dream. I wanted to learn all there was about everything, from start to finish and I thought I'd share my journey with the Seed & Sprout community along the way. If you've not seen the progress check out my personal Instagram & TikTok
My goal was always to be self sufficient and self reliant. The two acres of land in the Byron Hinterland has introduced me to an incredible community where I've learnt so much about resilience, perseverance and also about sustainable practices like permaculture. If you're keen to learn more there are incredible resources online - Permaculture Australia is a great place to start.
When I first started sharing the journey I wanted to inspire people; to prove that alternative ways of living are possible, it can be sustainable and that it can also be a more affordable model of living. I had a vision to live in unity with nature and a compassionate community.
Apart of the overall build, there was the process of upcycling furniture which was a great creative process. People are obsessed with the outdoor baths - they are so incredible!
The interest in my Tiny House and the Natural Pool has been incredible! I get asked so many questions about the process. For anyone considering making the move to build a tiny house, a natural pool or to live off grid - here's my top three tips.
- When designing, consider how much time you will be spending outside the home itself and factor in great outdoor spaces to relax in.
- Storage will be a factor so consider planning for that. Where will the things you want to keep but don’t fit in the house go?
- Just do it. It’s the best!
