Hi I’m Sophie,

I guess you’re wondering why I started this business?

Well, growing up in Byron Bay, when my son Archie started school, I had trouble finding something to pack his lunch in that was kind to the environment, yet practical.

The school had a no-disposables policy, which was great! I was pumped to be a part of a school that actually gave a f. 

But what sounded great in theory was much harder in practice.

Now I'm not saying Archie is fussy, but f*%#^@! hell if I thought Archie's carrot sticks could rub against some pasta I had another thing coming.

I tried a lot of solutions. And I mean A LOT.

Trust me, you don't want to see my Tupperware cupboard.

But with every product I bought, there was always a problem.

I couldn't find one single non-plastic lunch container that suited us, no matter how much I spent.

 

Either they had too many pieces to keep track of, they were an awkward shape, they contained toxic materials, they were too big for him to carry, or the cardinal sin, they did not fit a sandwich. (um. what?)

So my brain started ticking... I just couldn't let it go.

I decided to create a new kind of lunch box, to solve a real problem, and since doing that the response has been great!

And it's been a real joy to watch the way people have been using their products…

Since launching in 2016, we have maintained a nearly exclusively 5 star review rate from our happy customers.

And our first KickStarter campaign raised 696% of it's funding goal, and was fully backed in under 48 hours!

Contrary to my assumption, it isn't just kids who are using them. Adults love packing practical, zero waste lunches too.

And what started as a humble lunch box business in my garage grew to the one-stop eco shop you are visiting today.

It still blows my mind every day.

The thing that clicked everything into place for me was the meaning behind it.

Knowing that I'm contributing something positive to the world is what keeps me excited about the business every day.

It also allows me to do the things I’ve always dreamed about, like building my own off-grid tiny home and natural pool, which has been such a rewarding journey!

Building a business is not easy. It's tiring, and it can be lonely.

And it's damn scary at times too.

But when I read the reviews or someone sends me a message to tell me that somehow, my products have inspired them, or made them a better mummy, it makes every.single.moment worth it.

My vision for Seed & Sprout is to create a useful company that makes tools for the everyday person.

Tools that help you make healthy choices, easily.

And my goal at Seed and sprout is to make sustainability feel good. Because being sustainable should not feel like a chore.

Sometimes the commitment to a sustainable future may seem daunting.

There is so much to do and we can feel so small and ineffective. But being too focused on the ideal can be the enemy of making progress in the now.

That's why I want to create practical products that bridge the gap between the ideal and action. Products made for the everyday person.

And I want you guys to be a part of that journey.

I want to share with you the decisions, the hardships and the wins.

I want to create something where we can all be heard, and have your voices shape the future.
