Healthy Smoothie Recipes at Home: 10 Easy Blends + How to Save Money with Smoothie Prep
Homemade smoothies are one of those things that sound easy in theory, but in real life they can feel like more effort than they’re worth. But who can afford to grab one or two every week?
By the time you add protein or extras, you’re often paying $12–$16 per smoothie. For most folks, that’s a holiday!
And most of the time, they’re served in single-use cups.
We know how good they are for us but it can honestly feel like a lot of effort but not anymore! That’s exactly why we launched our new Reusable Glass Smoothie Cup and why I started prepping what I now call Smoothie Bombs using our Silicone Freezer Trays! Read on for recipes and hacks!
Why You’ll Love Our New Reusable Glass Smoothie Cup
It’s finally here! Our new 500mL Smoothie Cup comes in two colours (Moss and Praline) and guess what? They match your Glass Lunch Bowl and your Reusable Coffee Cup!

Smoothie Prep Hacks
For me, the biggest barrier to making smoothies wasn’t cost or ingredients. It was effort!! Chopping fruit every morning. Measuring everything. Deciding what to combine. Here’s two of our fave team hacks that will save you time (and a heap of cash!).
Both ways mean no measuring. No waste. No single-use cups going into landfill! And it means I can use that overripe fruit sitting in the fruit bowl. Win win.
Hack #1: Smoothie Bombs!
This little genius idea is from Lisa, our product wizz. She loves prepping all manner of pre-portioned ingredients into our Silicone Freezer Moulds.
Each combination goes into a section of the freezer tray. Once frozen, you pop them out and store them together in a reusable container or pouch. Here’s some combo ideas:
- Fruit blends (mango + pineapple, mixed berries, banana + spinach)
- Nut butter + cacao combinations
- Passionfruit pulp
- Coconut yoghurt bases
- Green blends with ginger and lemon
During the week, you simply:
- Add 2–3 cubes to your blender
- Pour in milk, water or coconut water
- Blend
- Pour into your Smoothie Cup
Hack #2: Blend the Whole Week at Once
If I know the week ahead will be busy, I’ll go one step further.
I blend an entire smoothie recipe (or two different ones), then pour the mixture straight into the freezer trays and freeze.
In the morning, I add a few frozen cubes to the blender with extra liquid and re-blend until smooth.
This works especially well for:
- Green smoothies
- Berry blends
- Turmeric and coconut combinations
It gives you flexibility because you can mix flavours together depending on how you feel that day. A green base one morning, a berry blend the next.
Most importantly, it removes decision fatigue.
