Before we begin this ‘how to’ we have to say, our Shampoo and Conditioner Bars are SO easy to use. Seriously. There’s no crazy long transition period, they’re just like using products from a plastic bottle, your hair won’t look dull and lifeless, and you don’t need to rush out and buy any apple cider vinegar! Hooray!
We are devoted to creating beautiful, practical, innovative and ethical products, so our Bar range is just that. We know that most of you don’t have time to experiment with eco-friendly products that don’t work, so we created a Shampoo and Conditioner Bar that work. In fact, it does more than that. The Argan Oil will hydrate and soften, the Shea Butter will moisturise your scalp and the Avocado Oil in our Conditioner Bar will work to strengthen your hair.
Our Shampoo and Conditioner Bars can be used in almost an identical way to liquid shampoo and conditioner; the one huge difference is that you add the water. If you check the ingredients list on the back of your shampoo or conditioner bottle at home, you’ll likely find the main ingredient is Aqua (Water). We believe that water is precious so instead you’ll find our bars filled with high performing, clean ingredients, with no nasties and 0% water.
The trick to getting the best results out of our Shampoo Bar is to wet your hair thoroughly first. Once done, run the Bar under water briefly, to help start the lathering process or rub the Bar directly on your head. Work the Shampoo Bar through your hair several times, starting at the root and running it down to the tip. If this is your first time using a Shampoo Bar, start off with 2-3 strokes through your hair. Those with thicker or longer hair may need more strokes to get a full coverage. Place the bar down in a dry spot out of running water and treat your hair like you would do with a liquid shampoo. Work the roots to create a lather and rinse well afterwards. If you normally double shampoo, you can continue to do this with our Bars.
As your hair is already wet, start by massaging your Conditioner Bar between your hands to wet it slightly. You can now run your Conditioner Bar directly through your hair. If you prefer a full coverage you can run the bar from root to tip but if you find that it’s only your ends that need special attention then just focus the Bar there. Leave for 2-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
To maximise the longevity of your Shampoo & Conditioner Bars allow them to dry after use either in one of our Ceramic Soap Holders or add to a Travel Tin. You may want to leave the lid off the Travel Tin for an hour after use to allow the Bars to fully dry out.
FAQs and Tips
I’ve used Shampoo Bars before and didn’t like them - what makes yours different?
We get it, you tried a bar previously that left your hair feeling greasy, tangled and unwashed? Yep we’ve been there too! Fortunately for us, and for you, our Bars are different. Firstly they don’t contain soap or any other ingredients that might strip your hair. They also lather up just like a liquid shampoo and rinse out with just water (no vinegar mix needed here!). Instead of drying out your hair our Shampoo Bars actually work to hydrate and moisturise thanks to some of our miracle ingredients like Shea Butter, Argan Oil and Betaine which is extracted from Sugar beets!
Can the Shampoo Bars be used on coloured hair? This is my main concern about switching to Shampoo Bars!
Yes! We have many customers who use our bars on coloured hair. Our Shampoo Bars are gentle and do not contain any ingredients that are known to strip the hair.
I usually use a specific dandruff shampoo - which bar do you recommend for dry scalps?
We recommend the Shampoo Bar, Hydration Station. The Rose Geranium Essential Oil acts to control unwanted bacterial and fungal growth which helps to support a healthy scalp.
How do I know which Shampoo Bar will suit my hair type?
We focussed on creating Shampoo Bars that compliment all hair types so that the bars can be used on yourself, your partner and even the kids. More than anything it will depend on the scents you prefer. Our Hydration Station Bar has subtle hints of rose geranium and can be beneficial for dryer hair types while our Mane Mojito contains citrusy scents of sweet orange and lime oil and can be beneficial for smoothing curly hair.
