For my application I hope to teach users how to successfully participate in the stock market. Not only will I have to teach someone about the stock market in general (identification of symbols, words, numbers, etc.) but also how those elements work together to create a successful experience with their spendings. In order to teach both of these ideas I have the idea of setting up my application as a simulation game where a user acts as if they are participating in the stock market, and as instances occur they will have a tutorial on what just happened, what that effected, and why it happened. Do you think a game would be the best way to teach this combined information to first time users? Or do you have a better idea of how this information can be shown and explained?
I have looked at similar applications for the stock market and all that I have found have similar looks and feels to them. Of course making the application reflect the visual language of the stock market seems like a good idea, but what do you suggest to make this still read ‘stock market’ but also be something that is my own style and is visually stimulating? Or rather, what are your ideas for how to already design a system that revolves around a previously designed system? Thank you so much for your time and willingness to help young designers!

Who?
People who want to become active and knowledgeable within the stock market. Specifically focusing on young adults who are beginning to make a sustainable income that they can begin to invest in the market, and older adults who are beginning to retire and want to invest to potentially make more money.
What?
A stockmarket application that helps its users learn about the market and how to participate successfully within it. I would hope this application would work like a simulation and as time passes, users are faced with certain situations where they learn about different occurrences within the market. Each time something changes within the market, the user would have a tutorial on the event and how that fits into the larger scheme of the stock market.
When?
Because this application would be used on a mobile device, it could essentially be used anytime, anywhere. Mainly when users begin the process of investing and want to learn more. When beginning to participate in the stock market, new investors want to seem knowledgeable and confident in what they are doing with their money.
Where?
Anywhere
Why?
The stock market is a strategical thing, that with the proper knowledge and experience, and a little luck, one can really benefit from the investments he/she has made. This tool would help those beginning investors to potentially be these successful participants.
How?
Like I have previously stated, I would want this application to work more like a game/simulation device. I hope to make a simple, well-designed system that anyone can easily use and learn from. I do not want to go the “read a lot of text” routes, but rather, smaller amounts of texts, along with charts/graphs/images that are easier to read and make the experience more pleasant.
