Closed systems are for suckas!

This quick blurb is more of a provocation of discussion.
After reading Steve Jobs’ open letter about the Apple/Flash debate, the author gives their quick commentary on it, and then calls for thoughts on the subject.
The discussion seems to be where the meat of the article is. A number of the comment-ers appear to have real world experience and put in their two cents on what they think about Flash and its mobile application.
Gradual Disappearance of Flash
May 4th
This article isn’t the most uplifting thing on earth, as it comments on the disappearance of Flash websites. But it goes on to defend Flash and detail why it won’t totally ever disappear, as well as what it does well. The one downside to it, is that there isn’t much of a mobile presence in the article. Still an interesting read.

An app that helps people get better sleep by presenting them with an overview of what their current sleep habits/patterns are, followed by explanations of what they are doing wrong, which is followed by descriptions of techniques and tips that help correct the problems they are experiencing.
I lost a lot of my text, and I tried probably for too long to find it unsuccessfully.

Interview with Adam, my roommate, the potential app user.
You sleep, right?
Naaawww. What would possibly give you that idea?
How often do you have problems getting to sleep? Why do you think you have these problems?
They happen every so often, not often enough to be much of any kind of problem or concern. Probably about as much as they’d happen to you. As for what causes said incidents, I think they’re caused mostly by school work, when I’ve got too much work that’s stressing me out, stress because of tests, thinking about all the crap I’ve got to do in the next few days, (lists a couple more) etc. Not really because of the noise you guys make in the living room with the tv and stuff.
Say you had an app on your iPhone or something that would help you sleep by showing you tips and techniques to better sleep?
I would totally use one of those. You know that I like my sleep, and I think that anything that’d help me get to that kind of awesomeness faster and better would be something worth having. I’d even prolly use it when I’m not stressed and stuff, when I’ve got the time to try to get better sleep.
What would you want this app to do/show you to help you get to/get better sleep?
If it could, I’d like it to show me stuff through diagrams. I’m a visual kinda person, and I learn the easiest through visuals. Tables kinda help. But not really.

What?
An app that helps people get better sleep by presenting them with an overview of what their current sleep habits/patterns are, followed by explanations of what they are doing wrong, which is followed by descriptions of techniques and tips that help correct the problems they are experiencing.
Who?
The person who would use this app is someone who may or may not be getting good or alright sleep, but wants to get better sleep. Someone who wants to realize what it is that they are doing wrong when it comes down to sleeping, and to learn different techniques to correct this and get better sleep.
When?
This app could be used either around bed time, nap time, or at any time that one needs to do any kind of relaxing.
Why?
Someone would use this app in order to learn what they are doing wrong when it comes down to sleeping. After they learn what they’re doing wrong, the app will help them get their sleeping habits back on the right track by providing tips and techniques that will lead to better quality sleep.
Where?
Anywhere comfortable to sleep: bed, the magical sleep inducing couch, the back row in class, etc.

Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock
-An alarm clock that analyzes your sleep patterns and wakes you in the lightest sleep phase – a natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed
aSleep
- Relax and listen to the marvelous sounds of nature and suave melodies that w
ill help you fall asleep. aSleep is also suitable for meditation, yoga, to release the stress and so on.
Ambiance
- Ambiance is an “environment enhancer” designed to help you create the perfect ambient atmosphere to focus or relax.

Sleep Analyzer for iPhone
-Simply place your iPhone next to your bed and set a decibel threshold for the night. Only sounds that exceed that threshold are recorded and stored for you to access the next day. The threshold system allows you to quickly overview the number of disturbances in a night, and avoid pouring through hours of recordings to document your sleep patterns.
The next morning you are able to scroll through each disruption. Disruptions can be replayed and classified as coughs, snores, sneezes, etc. You can store up to a month of sleep data and back-up data to a personal computer. The organized sleep logs can be used to identify recurring disturbances that can then be presented to a doctor or remedied through tailored changes to your sleep environment.
