I liked how you related this to your own experiences as an RA. It looks like you’ve done some nice research for this app. I wish you would show a little bit more about exactly how this is going to work on the app.

you are taking tasks that you do “in home” and explaining, how important they are but also how to do them.
I think this would be very useful for realtors who are renting out homes to college students who might not know about these simple tasks.. important to the upkeep and longevity of the house.
is there a way you can make this into a checklist/game to make it less of a chore?
i think it is very important to show before and afters (such as the light bill before, and light bill after you begin to take action)

This would be nice to have, especially for those of us with crappy landlords!
I think augmented reality would be really helpful for this app to teach the user how to do it. It’s one thing to provide instructions with generic pictures, but if the app actually pinpointed where to fix on your water heater/sink/ac have you, your app would be really useful.

I think that picking a specific task or an action that is the same for multiple tasks is going to be a way to effectively move forward.

I really like the DIY aspect of this app, it would be a really helpful tool to teach me more about the functions of devices around the house.
How would the app give you feedback or tell you if you’re doing something wrong?

there are a lot of problems that you have to deal with (list seemed quite intense!). It might be beneficial to focus on just one task as opposed to trying to take on all he problems that may occur in the home.
maybe helpful to start with a checklist of things that are broken/not working for diagnosis. Then a list of possible solutions or if it is something serious a number to call for professional help.

I like your idea. I think it would benefit if you added a social aspect, in case a problem came up that your app couldn’t address.

I think this could be great in terms of saving money (by fixing things yourself) and making that a game, sort of like the “Harris Teeter VIC Card” savings. Perhaps it could keep an estimated tally?
Making this app “fun” could be a challenge, but it’s certainly not impossible.

I think the idea behind your mobile application is very interesting, and definitely convenient for people trying to repair things. I think your expert feedback is really great for you to go off of.
I think once you decide on a specific task, I would be interested to see where you take it from there and what all the possibilities are for the mobile app.

I like that you personally need this app and have applied those needs to your application.
If you were repairing something it might be helpful to have a list of what you would need from Lowe’s or Home Depot, and how much this repair might cost (i.e: is it worth our time and money to do it yourself or to hire an expert?)
Rate the repairs on how timely or difficult they might be for the user depending on previous experiences, abilities of the user, and the depth of the problem (too much rust on the pipes, might have to dig underground to remove something, etc.)

You have a great resource with the experienced user. I would like to see more of the systems goals for the application. I want to see more components and possibilities.
